Hobby cafe is a fashion trend in the modern culture of needlework. We represent the most interesting institutions in Europe and are sure that this is only the beginning of a new amazing tradition!

Continuation of the living room

Lydiatrudi, Germany, Leipzig

"Set yourself at home, pick up a needle and thread!" - So in one of the districts of Leipzig, a large sign invites you to an unusual cafe.
Inside the walls are painted in warm green color, there is a sofa by the window, in the center there is a large cutting table, on the shelves there are different types of fabric.
The cafe "Lydiatrudi" is cozy as in a home living room. It's nice to be here. And the main merit in this is the managing Lydia Gotha. She is 27 years old, and she is a certified teacher of art history, independently learning how to sew. Out of hobby, the idea of business was born.
One fall, she opened a fabric store combined with a cafe, where she placed five sewing machines at the disposal of visitors. Whoever wants to sew alone, but there are courses here, and visitors are always ready to come to the aid of each other. In the cafe of Lydia Gaute, you really feel at home.

The atmosphere of a Parisian studio

France, Paris www.sweatshopparis.com
True chic instead of shopping frenzy. If a designer-fashion designer or stylist establishes a sewing cafe, then it will become a real oasis for lovers of sewing.
Marten Duss from Switzerland and Sissy Allay profess the principle: "People should buy less and sew more with their own hands or redraw old dresses." And feel good at the same time, and try dishes personally prepared by Martena Duss. All this happens in the very center of Paris. Here you can rent a sewing machine, learn courses, there are special "children's watches" here, they knit, tailor, patchwork, batik. Stylists are constantly invited here, who reveal the secrets of "haute couture" from their own sketches to the last stitch. This is a real creative life!

Luxurious restraint

Homemade, UK, London
More than just tradition. The British are famous for their elegance and extravagance. Have a tea and cake party? This is exactly what Nicole Barron likes.
What could be more beautiful than sewing another thing and at the same time tasting the exquisite sweets served at Royal Worcester China? A former television producer knows how to pamper guests. However, we are talking only about a pleasant background for sewing, on our own or with the study group, for making hats, creating new perfumes ...
On the eve of the wedding, brides with bridesmaids come here and sew garters and underwear. Here we meet to sew romper, bonnets and vests for newborns. There is always an inspired atmosphere. For the sake of such a good mood, it's worth a look.

It is interesting!

The first sewing cafe in Russia was opened in Volgograd in October 2014. If you know where else there are sewing cafes, share this information in the comments!
But, for example, in Germany, this type of leisure is no longer exclusive ...
