An unexpected way to recycle old jeans: use denim strips as a "vine" for weaving a basket.
Due to the dense stiffness of denim such a basket would be nice to keep in shape. For a small basket, you can cut the strip narrower, and for a large - wider. Accordingly, select a container base for weaving.
Ideas for storage - interior baskets: 5 workshops
You will need:
- several pairs of unnecessary jeans (the amount depends on the size of your basket);
- ruler and pencil / marker for fabric;
- scissors or a roller knife and a mat mat;
- sewing machine and thread;
- a certain container, in size and shape equal to the size and shape of your future basket - will be used as the basis for weaving.
Mat from old jeans: a master class
Step 1
Mark stripes of the same width on the jeans leg (in this case, about 25 cm) along the jeans. Cut the jeans into strips. Leave 8 long strips and sew the rest into a long ribbon.
Step 2
Fold the remaining 8 stripes, as shown in the photo, and tie in the center.
Step 3
One of the ends, start to braid the strips, then sew the end of the denim tape to it and continue to weave, forming the bottom.
Step 4
When the bottom of the right size is ready, use the base container to weave the basket walls.It is better to straighten the strips that are braided with tape, and the tape itself can be twisted - for a higher density of the basket walls.
Step 5
When the walls of the desired height are ready, tie the remaining ends, as shown in the photo. Then thread these tips into the walls. For fidelity, you can walk along the edge of the basket with a needle with a strong thick thread, strengthening the edge. Done.
